~About Our Puppies~

The cost of our puppies depends upon a number of factors including- but not exclusive to- the sire of the litter.  Typically, a well-bred Pequeno puppy can cost anywhere from$1500-2500.

Why do our puppies cost more than those found in a newspaper, craig's list, or pet store?  All our puppies are bred with temperament (including work ethic), health, and conformation in mind- and not the ulmighty dollar.  We do our best to produce mentally and physically sound Labradors.  It is for this reason we do as many breed specific health clearances as we can on those special individuals who become apart of a our breeding program and have them evaluated by our peers.  We meticulously research pedigrees as well as individual dogs to make the best breeding matches we possibily can.  This means not only recognizing that a sire or dam produces the features we are searching for, but also verifying a history of health and proper temperament (including work ethic) among his or her ancestors.  This, along with properly raising & socializing a litter of puppies, requires a lot of unpaid time and effort as well as a lot of money for showing, health clearances, stud fees, etc that is never even remotely made back- even at the price we ask for our puppies.  We are HOBBY breeders, not a business.

Our puppies are raised & socialized in our home, as members of our family- not in a barn, garage, or kennel building.  They are dewormed, vet checked, appropriately vaccinated, and microchipped as well.  In addition, all of our companion puppies are sold with AKC Limited Registration and Spay/Neuter clause because we care about the next generation and which dogs become contributors in the breed's gene pool.  Also, if you choose to welcome one of our puppies into your home, you get a lifetime support network with that puppy.   If you ever have questions or concerns, we make ourselves available to you day & night.  If we don't know the answers, we will find someone who does.  Also, should you ever not be able to properly care for your puppy, we ask that they be returned to us- at any age and for any reason.  It is our goal to keep our puppies out of animal shelters & rescues at all times.

Why don't you get to pick your own puppy?  We are aware that many breeders will start allowing visits when the puppies are very young and allow you to pick your puppy at that time.  However, in the short amount of time you get to visit with the puppies (and especially at such a young age), the puppies may display behavior that is not typical of their every day temperament.  That energetic, outgoing puppy that toddled right up to you may have just awoken from a nap and very well could be one of the mellowest puppies in the litter.  Something that would not suit your outdoor lifestyle (hiking, camping, hunting, jogging, etc).  On the other hand, that sleeping puppy in the corner who seems disinterested in you at the moment could have just been playing hard all morning and very well could be the most energetic puppy in the litter.  Something that would suit your outdoor lifestyle perfectly.  Now, how many would have fallen for the puppy that was the first to toddle right up to them?

As responsible breeders, we watch and interact with our puppies very closely.  We get to know their real personalities pretty well and not just what they display in a snap shot in time.  Therefore, our waiting list is not a first come, first serve.  We want to make sure you get the right puppy for your family and the placement is a successful one.
